<p>A wall fastener (11) for installation in a hollow lightweight wall to prevent pull-out and over-torquing is comprised of an anchoring member (17, 75) inserted through a wall opening to engage the inner surface (65) of the wall, a positioning member (13, 78) coupled to the anchoring member to fix the anchoring member against rotation, and a securing member (19, 87) threadedly engaging the anchoring member to move the anchoring member toward the inner surface of the wall without rotation to preclude over-torquing of the anchoring member. The anchoring member is comprised of a central member (49, 80) and a plurality of elongated feet (53, 83) flared outwardly from the central member. The feet are bendable inwardly to allow the anchoring member to be inserted through the opening, and the inward movement of the anchoring member toward the inner surface of the wall causes the feet to engage the inner surface of the wall and increasingly compress and spread outwardly to provide a substantial anti-pull-out holding means.</p> |
