PURPOSE:To provide a powder coat insulated electric wire with high surface hardness on the covering and with good flexibility by coating organic titanium compound on a powder coated wire, which is formed through electrostatic coating on a conductor with synthetic resin powder having OH-radicals in the molecule chain, followed by heating, melting, and hardening, and then subjecting it to the heating and drying processes. CONSTITUTION:An organic titanium compound is coated on a powder coated wire, which is formed through electrostatic coating on a conductor with synthetic resin powder having OH-radicals in the molecule chain, followed by heating, melting, and hardening, and it is then subjected to the heating and drying processes. As organic titanium compound, alkyl titanate or titanium chelate shall preferably be used. As improvement of insulation with organic titanium compound is thus made through application of coating and heat treatment only to its surface, titanium compound is consumed in a minor amount, and thus the surface hardness of the wire covering can be enhanced without reducing the flexibility of wire.
