A storage stable form of the crystalline sulfate of 7-[2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-(Z)-2-methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-[5-(2-hydrox yethyl)-4-methylthiazoliomethyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylate has a specified X-ray diffraction pattern and is prepared by adding aqueous sulfuric acid to an aqueous solution of the compound under controlled conditions.
