PURPOSE:To improve the usability of a seat belt device by constituting it so as to set a seat belt to a setting state in a way of energizing a driving device for outward drive at a time when there is a seat belt setting indication and personnel is in a car seat and to set it to a setting release state if there is a setting release command. CONSTITUTION:When no personnel is in a car set STFR, a seat belt 100 is set to a setting release state all the time irrespective of on or off of an engine and opening or closing of a door, so that this seat belt 100 does not come to any hindrance against boarding. In a vehicle driving state, these conditions that a car door 400 is close, an ignition circuit is on and personnel is on the car seat STFR are all completed without fail, whereby a driving device is energized for outward drive, thus the seat belt 100 is automatically attached. And, at the time of alighting, the car door 400 becomes opened, and the seat belt 100 is automatically released by energizing the driving device 200 for return drive. Consequently, the usability of a seat belt device is very improvable.
