PURPOSE:To improve cooling effect in carrying out air cooling and sprinkled water cooling selectively by a method wherein cooling pipes are classified into the upper and lower pipe groups and a sprinkled water vessel is installed in facing each upper or lower pipe group. CONSTITUTION:When cooling efficiency decreases owing to the high outside air temp. in the summer period, etc., the valves 14c, 14d at the lower part are closed and the valves 14a, 14b at the upper part are opened and sprinkled water is supplied to the upper sprinkled water vessels 11a, 11b to sprinkle water on the upper pipe groups 10a, 10b. The sprinkled water passing through the said pipe groups is collected in the lower sprinkled water vessels 11c, 11d to sprinkle the water on the lower pipe groups 10c, 10d. At the same time, the sprinkled water being sprinkled is subjected to evaporation cooling by the outside air sucked from the openings 5, 5 at both sides by the rotation of a suction fan 15. At that time, the moisture in exhaust is not solidified and white smoke is not generated. At the time of the low outside air temp. in the winter period a part of the liquid to be cooled is air cooled by the outside air sucked by the fan 15 at the pipe groups 10a, 10b. The remaining liquid is subjected to sprinkled water cooling at the pipe groups 10c, 10d.
