PURPOSE:To obtain the titled steel having high fatigue strength at the dedendum part and in which the high strengthening of the pitching resistance is permitted by using the case hardening steel contg. specific amounts of C, Mo, V, etc., as the steel material for a gear as the driving transmission parts of an automobile. CONSTITUTION:The case hardening steel contg. the compsn. of, by weight, 0.10-0.35% C, 0.5-1.5% Si, <=0.40% Mn, 3.0-7.0% Cr, 1.0-2.0% Mo and 0.8-1.5% V and satisfying the value of 4-10 (Cr+Mo+V)/Si is employed as the material which is suitable for the application to a gear, etc., as the driving transmission parts of an automobile, has the fatigue strength at the dedendum part and has high strengthened pitching resistance.
