PURPOSE:To achieve overload protecting operation properly, by a method wherein the title protector is provided with a circuit detecting an instantaneous excessive peak current due to short-circuit trouble or the like, and another circuit capable of detecting a current exceeding the maximum current which can be outputted continuously from a power source device. CONSTITUTION:A first specified value, which is the value of a current bigger than the maximum current necessary for a pulse load 3, is set in a first overcurrent detecting circuit. 7 in order to detect an overcurrent. When an excessive peak current flows instantaneously owing to the short-circuit trouble of the pulse load 3 or the like, an overload protecting operation is effected by the detecting output of the first overcurrent detecting circuit 7. An integrating circuit 8 integrates pulse currents, outputted to the pulse load 3, and detects the average value of the pulse currents. A second overcurrent detecting circuit 9 is operated when a current output exceeding the maximum current capable of being outputted continuously from a power source device flows through the pulse load 3. |
