PURPOSE:To use both sublimed dye ink and melted analog ink by one recorder by identifying the type of the ink of a set thermal transfer film, selecting an application energy table by the identification, and altering the conveying speed of a recording sheet. CONSTITUTION:When a film cassette 23 is set in a recorder section and a print signal is input, the gamma-table and the motor speed of a halftone circuit 7 and a motor driver 12 are selected. A motor 18 is rotated, and a pulse is output from an encoder 19. A comparison value 1 is set in a gradation comparator 3, which compares it with input data. If the input data is smaller than this value, it outputs 0, and if it is equal to or larger than the value, it outputs 1. Data for one line are sequentially fed from a line memory, compared, and the results are output. The output data are synchronized with a clock by a data transfer 4, transferred to a thermal head, a latch signal is output when the data for one line are finished to be transferred, and the data are stored in the latch circuit of the head. Then, a strobe signal corresponding to gradation 1 is generated to heat the head.
