PURPOSE:To easily conform items related to photographing and to improve the convenience of use by providing an aperture by which the display device of a mounted memory cartridge provided with the display device can be seen. CONSTITUTION:The aperture 34 is provided in a digital electronic still camera 10 and if the memory cartridge 20 provided with the display device is inserted in a groove 32 to be mounted on it, a liquid crystal display unit 24 of the car tridge 20 can be freely seen. Then some items related to photographing such as a photographed picture, the number of frames and a photographing date, etc., displayed on the display unit 24 through an incorporated solar battery, a CPU and a memory, etc., can be easily confirmed. As a result, the convenience is enhanced and a camera which is easy to be used can be obtained.
