PURPOSE:To obtain a substrate for optical recording which comprises a resin base and has excellent solvent resistance and flexibility, by laminating the resin base with a film formed from a polymer and an organosilicon compound. CONSTITUTION:A resin base is laminated with a film formed from a polymer and an organosilicon compound. The polymer is preferably a polymer having a hydrogen-bondable functional group, and may be polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyridine or the like. The organosilicon compound is preferably a compound of the formula R<1>R<2>aSi(OR<3>)3-a and/or a hydrolyzate thereof. The organosilicon compound is used in an amount of 0.5-500 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the polymer. The film, comprising the polymer in addition to the organosilicon compound, has sufficient flexibility, and is hardly cracked by rapid temperature changes or shocks. A solvent to be used may be any one that does not attack the resin base, for example, an alcohol or water. |
