In a delivery device for an automatic vending machine, an ejector 6 for a goods pack 4, 5 is movable by means of a motor (9) along a circular path K. The delivery device 1 comprises only a single switch 11, which is closed by the goods pack 4 that is lowest on each occasion. On ejection of the goods pack 4, the switch 11 opens before the goods pack falls out. A control circuit detects the current switched state of the switch 11. The control circuit does not switch the motor (9) off, after opening of the switch 11, until the elapse of a delay time. Within this delay time, the goods pack 4 falls out of the delivery device 1. At the end of the delay time, the ejector 6 is again in its basic position G. The delay time may be varied in accordance with the time taken between switching on the motor (9) and opening of the switch 11, and in accordance with an average of previous delay times. This ensures that the effects of temperature and of the reducing weight of the stack of goods packs 5 are compensated. Provision may be made to detect blockages and other faults. The switch 11 also indicates when the machine is empty. <IMAGE>
