A pressure modulator is proposed, which has a divided piston rod (13). An outer part (17) of the piston rod (13) can move in relation to an inner part (15) of the piston rod (13) at each braking, so that the piston rod (13) cannot stick due to corrosion in the sometimes long inoperative period. The pressure modulator is intended for antilock brake systems of motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
