PURPOSE:To set lamp voltage within a specified range by forming a heat insulating layer with a process for laying and adhering a metal material which is flushed through high frequency induction heating from the outside of an outer tube on and to the surface of a glass cylinder, and thereby rising the coolest temperature of a light emission tube. CONSTITUTION:The voltages of lamps are measured, then those having voltages lower than a specified range are selected, and they are respectively heated in their portions of barium metal powders by means of a high frequency induction heater from the outside of outer tubes 1, and thereby the barium metal powders are flushed and fused on the inner surfaces of glass cylinders 10 so that insulating layers are formed respectively. The coolest temperature in a metal tube 5A during operation rises owing to the insulation layer and the vapor pressure of sodium amalgum remaining there rises accordingly. It is thus possible to rise the voltages of lamps whose voltages are initially lower and to set them in a specified range.
