PURPOSE:To suppress the extra subtraction and addition and to increase the decimal division processing speed by estimating the difference of scales of data to be calculated in the next time. CONSTITUTION:When the division is carried out with the decimal data, the subtracting operations are repeated. In such a case, two decimal data are fetched successively by A and B registers 6 and 7 for operation in order of lower level digits. Then a 3rd C register 8 is selected by a selector 10 when the operation is through with the data including the most significant digit and after a status register 12 is set. Then the subtraction is carried out by means of the contents of the register C and one of both registers 6 and 7. This carry status is stored in a carry register 13 and the difference of data scales is decided based on the contents of the register 13 in order to prevent the steps of excessive subtraction. Thus the division of the decimal data is carried out at high speed.
