PURPOSE:To fix a catheter type fiber scope to a sheath tube without requiring a lens barrel by adding a small-diameter rod lens to the front end of an image guide and inserting the image guide and light guides to the sheath tube to incorporate an objective lens in the sheath tube. CONSTITUTION:A large-diameter rod lens 18 is drawn into a prescribed rod diameter and is cut to prescribed length dimensions, and both ends are ground to form a small-diameter rod lens 20 whose length dimensions are longer than image forming dimensions, and the small-diameter rod lens 20 is provided on the front end of an image guide 3, and the image guide 3 and plural light guides 4 are inserted to a sheath tube 2. Thereafter, the front end face of the small- diameter rod lens 20 is ground together with front end faces of light guides 4 and the sheath tube 2 and the small-diameter rod lens 20 is adjusted to a prescribed focal length, thereby forming an optical fiber body 1 where an objective lens 5 consisting of the small-diameter rod lens 20 is incorporated in the front end part. Thus, the fiber scope is stuck to the sheath tube 2 without requiring the lens barrel.
