NEW MATERIAL:A fatty acid ester expressed by formula I (R1 is 7-17C straight-chain alkyl; R2 is H, halogen, alkyl or hydroxyl group; R3 is H, sulfoxyl, carboxyl, hydroxyl group or alkyl; X is H, sulfoxyl or carboxyl). EXAMPLE:4,4'-(3H-2,1-Benzoxathiol-3-ylidene)bisphenol S,S-dioxide lauric acid ester. USE:Useful as a substrate for measuring lipase activity, having water solubility and optical absorption band at long wavelengths and capable of measuring enzymic activity, such as lipase without suffering from interference by visible absorption of pigments in blood and further rapid analysis and measurement with high quantitative sensitivity. PREPARATION:For example, phenolphthalein coloring matter is reacted with an anhydride of a higher fatty acid in the presence of an acid capturing agent in a solvent to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
