PURPOSE:To operate a telephone set without coming near to a telephone set by making an operating part detachable, and in addition, providing a hand free function to make a call without using a handset possible. CONSTITUTION:A telephone set main body 2 and the operating part 1 of the main body 2 are formed previously so as to be separable, and the separable operating part 1 can be fitted in the main body 2. The main body 2 is provided with the handset 15, a microphone 13 and a laud speaker 14, and the operating part 1 is provided with a key matrix switch 3. Besides, the operating part 1 is provided with an infrared ray transmitting part, and the corresponding telephone set main body 2 is provided with an infrared ray receiving part 7. At the time of the operation from a remote place, a remote operation comes possible by pushing the key matrix switch 3 toward the infrared ray receiving part 7 of the telephone set main body 2 by using the operating part 1. Thus, the outgoing and incoming operation of the telephone can be managed without coming near to the telephone set every time.
