A road sign comprises a pillar 10 of rubber or other elastomeric material with a reinforcing chain 12 encased therein and light reflecting means on its upper end. A rigid sleeve 14 of e.g. aluminium, and coated on one or more sides with light reflective material 15, is placed on one end of the pillar which is then vulcanised. The sleeve 14 may be replaced by one or more plates 23, Fig. 8, carrying light reflecting material 15A, 15B. During laying of a kerb, the pillar may be embedded in concrete 21 and have keys 18, 19 passing through holes 16, 17. To mount a pillar in an existing kerb, an oval hole is sunk between adjacent stones 20 and the pillar embedded in concrete therein, the key 19 being omitted. Means for deflecting splashes from the light reflecting material may comprise wire gauge plates 29, 30 integral with or mounted on the sleeve 14 or plates 23 or neoprene plates integral with the pillar (not shown). Alternatively, the sleeve 14 and plates 23 are omitted and the projecting plates carry the light-reflecting material. |
