PURPOSE:To output an image signal to a semiconductor laser at accurate timing by uniting and packaging a photodetecting element in an optical component. CONSTITUTION:The photodetecting element is united and packaged in the optical component. For example, the package 57 equipped with the optical component 70 and photodetecting element (pin diode) 76 is fixed in a structure shown in a figure. The correcting lens 73 of the optical component 70 and pin diode 76 are fixed mutually in ideal position relation, and the distance between the photodetection surface of the pin diode 76 and the correcting lens 73, the angle of the photodetection surface to an optical axis, and the parallelism between the main scanning direction of a laser beam and one side of the photodetection part 84 of the pin diode 76 are accurately set. Consequently, the image signal is outputted to a semiconductor laser at accurate timing.
