PURPOSE:To improve ignitionability and prevent explosion by a method wherein at a main body into which microwaves from a microwave generator are introduced a disposal container for charging garbage is placed and at its inner bottom an ignitor generating heat by microwaves is placed. CONSTITUTION:An ignitor 16 installed with its edge part located near the inner side of a container is composed of the sinters silicon carbide and barium titanate and has a heat resistance of 1,000 deg.C or more and generate heat by microwaves. The microwaves act directly on garbage 8 and heat momentarily even its inside. At the same time, the microwaves act on the ignitor 16 and cause it to generate heat and dehydration is doubly promoted. Thereby, dehydrated and dried garbage 8 is decreased in its volume and precipitated on the bottom of the container 7 and the garbage 8 precipitated on the overall bottom of the container is uniformly and early ignited by the ignitor 16 which is installed with its edge part being located near the side bottom of the container 7 and already red heated. There is therefore no such a possibility that the garbage is smoldered continuously in being not ignited and unburnt HC concentration is raised to cause explosion.
