PURPOSE:To simplify the circuit of an image reader by setting the delay quantity of an accumulating time in accordance with the main scanning counter of a CCD to be a reference, the main scanning counter of the other CCD and a magnification rate and outputting an image signal with a common driving clock. CONSTITUTION:A main scanning counter 2 of a reference (an odd number) CCD only counts a picture element number decided beforehand, then generates line synchronous signals LSYNC, and phiV1-phiV7SH, phi1A and phi1B are synchronized with them. A main scanning counter 4 of an even number CCD, with a signal from a delay setting counter 3, starts counting and phi1A, phi1B and phiV1 are synchronized with this signal. A PROM6, at every counting delay number, stores beforehand the output data of phiV2-phiV7 at every page, the data of the delay number are inputted and the page is selected. After phiV1 is inputted, an address is turned and phiV2-phiV7 are outputted. Thus, an image deviation is removed, and with a common phase, the image output can be executed between CCDs.
