PURPOSE:To always obtain a full scale dynamic range over an entire wavelength even when a base line is bent on any side, by parallelly moving an absorbancy curve at the time when a blank specimen is used in a required direction to set a correction base line. CONSTITUTION:A blank specimen is received in both of a specimen cells 5 and a control cell 6 and the transmitted lights through the cells are detected as currents by light detectors 7, 8 and, when said currents are processed by logarithmic converters 9, 10, the first differential amplifier 11 and an A/D converter 13, the absorbancy curve B0 of the absorbancy corresponding to an entire wavelength is stored in a memory 14. The memory content thereof is read and the value parallelly moving said curve by matching the level of the point largely deflecting on the side coinciding with a measuring purpose such as a positive side with zero is determined by a CPU 15 and applied to the second differential amplifier 12 through a D/A converter 16 to set a correction base line B2 to store the same in the memory 14. By this method, a full scale dynamic range is always obtained over an entire wavelength even when the base line is bent on any side.
