PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of an exclusively used operator and terminal device, by sending push button (PB) signals from facsimile equipment to a host computer after they are converted into retrieval data at a connection controller and retrieving image information corresponding to the retrieval data at the host computer which sends the image information to the facsimile equipment through the connection controller. CONSTITUTION:At facsimile equipment 5, prescribed image information for requesting retrieval is instructed through push botton operations and the information is sent out by means of PB signals. The PB signals are sent to a host computer 1 after they are converted into retrieval information which can be identified by the host computer 1 at a connection controller 2. At the host computer 1, prescribed image information corresponding to the retrieval information is retrieved and the image information is transmitted to the facsimile equipment 5 through the connection controller 2. Therefore, the facsimile equipment 5 can make a retrieval request by a simple method, such as push button operations, etc., and can obtain desired image information from the host computer 1. Accordingly, no exclusively used terminal device and operator are required.
