PRODUCTION OF SPACER FOR TRANSMISSION MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To remove projected stripe-like deformation between grooves immediately after working and to improve working accuracy and yield by cutting an once formed and cured linear body. CONSTITUTION:Transmission medium storing grooves 3 are cut and formed on the periphery of the linear body 15 moving its axial direction by a cutter 32 and the cutter 32 is rotated or reciprocally rotated around the linear body 15 to form the grooves 4 spirally or like a waveform. While being carried at a comparatively high speed, the linear body 15 is molded and cured and then the grooves 4 are cut and formed by the cutter 32. Since the linear body 15 is held at a state capable of sufficiently resisting rapid cutting work at the time of groove cutting and the grooves 4 are usually cut by the cutter 32 consisting of metal or ceramics, heat generation can be reduced at the time of cutting the grooves 4 and the cutting operation itself can be executed at a high speed under light load.
