PURPOSE:To pivotally install the root of one rocker arm and the middle part of the other rocker arm about a rocker shaft pivotally installed in the upper middle part of a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A rocker shaft 6 is pivotally installed in the upper middle part of a combustion chamber 2. About the rocker shaft 6 are pivotally installed the root of a rocker arm 7 for a suction valve 3 and the middle part of a rocker arm 8 for an exhaust valve 4. Both rocker arms 7, 8 are oscillated by means of a cam shaft 9 deflected on one side of a cylinder head 1. The rocker arms can thus be smaller, and the angle between the suction valve and exhaust valve can also be smaller, thereby the engine can be small and light-weighing.
