PURPOSE:To enable a highly efficient removing operation and a high-grade finishing operation by making the opening end of the cup like rotary body of a cup grindstone the face of action of grindstone formed with a ring band plane perpendicular to an axis and always keeping the oscillating face of action of grindstone in a posture perpendicular to the axis. CONSTITUTION:A boss 1 which is joined to an external exciting source has a contact face 2 and an internal thread 3. A grindstone 5 is brazed to the opening end of a cup like rotary body 4. An 'X' face perpendicular to the axis of the cup like rotary body 4 is the face of action of the grindstone 5. The grindstone 5 is formed into a ring shape of, e.g., 71mm in outside diameter 65mm in inside diameter, and 6mm in thickness and made of metal-bonded diamond grindstones in order to favorably transmits ultrasonic oscillation. The cup like rotary body has one node circle and the components in the axial direction on its connecting point to the boss 1 have an opposite phase to the components in the axial direction of the face of action of grindstone 'X'. Each point in the boss 1 except the part adjacent to the cup like rotary body 4 nearly has a uniform component in the axial direction. The oscillation mode in the cup like rotary body 4 is, although complex, one in which components perpendicular to the surface are mixed with inner face components parallel to the surface. |
