The invention relates to an apparatus for sterilising flowing liquids by UV irradiation, which comprises a container through which the liquid to be sterilised flows and which has at least one inlet nozzle (4) and at least one outlet nozzle (9) at the ends, as well as a plurality of rod-shaped radiator elements (14) arranged so as to be axis-parallel in the container with electrical connections (12). The radiator elements are surrounded by separate quartz tubes (15). According to the invention, the container comprises a rotationally symmetrical distribution chamber (1) with a tangentially opening inlet nozzle (4), a rotationally symmetrical collection chamber (8), which is arranged on the same axis, with the outlet nozzle (9) and a plurality of pipes (7) connecting the two chambers (1, 8) to one another.
