PURPOSE:To enable the delicate control of removing braking force by providing first and second braking force holding electromagnetic check valves having a large flow rate and a small flow rate respectively and, at the time of starting a vehicle on an ascending slope, deenergizing said first check valve later than said second check valve. CONSTITUTION:First and second braking electromagnetic check valves 15a, 15b having a large flow rate and a small flow rate respectively are connected in parallel to remove a braking force by making a braking fluid which is fed to a wheel brake 17 through a hydraulic route 16a due to the stepping-in of a brake pedal 8 flow back via a route 16b at the time of deenergizing, and to hold the braking force by checking, together with the route 16a, the backward flow of the braking fluid at the time of energizing. The electromagnetic check valves 15a, 15b are controlled by a control unit 14 in accordance with the operating condition of a vehicle. That is, when the vehicle is judged to be starting at the time of detecting the ascending condition of a traveling road by an ascent detecting sensor 13, control is performed so as to deenergize the first check valve 15a a little later than the second check valve 15b.
