PURPOSE:To heighten strength for mechanical shock or thermal shock, by arranging the tip part of an external connecting terminal connected to the terminal electrode of a surface wave element at a position floated above the upper plane of a pedestal, and applying face-down bonding on the terminal electrode of the surface wave element. CONSTITUTION:The pedestal 30 is provided with an almost flat part 31a in the center part of which the surface wave element is placed, and a step part 31b to be fitted with the frame part of a cover is formed in the peripheral part. On the flat part in the center part, four connecting terminals 32, 34, 36, and 38 connected to the terminal electrode formed on the surface wave element 20 are arranged at a position protruding a little above the surface of the flat part 31a. The external connecting terminals 33 and 35, etc., are exposed on the upper and the lower planes of the pedestal 30, and the face-down bonding is applied on the terminal electrode of the surface wave element 20 confronting with the exposure part of the upper plane of the pedestal. In such a way, the warp of the surface wave element generated at the time of sintering piezoelectric ceramics is absorbed by the tip part of the external connecting terminal on the pedestal.
