PURPOSE:To provide easy and sure installation of a piston, a connecting rod, etc., by preparing a pallet placing process, a horizontal positioning process, a piston ring fitting process, a clip fitting process, and a piston and con-rod coupling process. CONSTITUTION:A piston 1 is placed on an installation pallet P oriented in a certain direction, while a connecting rod 10 on a traveling table PM horizontally. Then the piston 1 is rotated horizontally to be positioned horizontally, and is rotated in the inverted directions up and down, and piston rings 16 are fitted in the ring grooves 4 one after another. Then the piston 1 is located, and a clip 18 is fitted in the ring groove 4 of a piston detention hole 3. Then the piston 1 is rotated 180 deg. in the circumferential direction, and the traveling table PM is moved to allow insertion of the minor end 13 of the connecting rod 10, and a piston pin 17 is inserted from above followed by fitting of clip 18. Thus installation is completed. Accordingly installation work can be done easily and surely without wasteful motions on the pallet P.
