Low- and medium activity wastes comprising max. 50kg/m3 are treated by chemical pptn., filtration, pH adjustment, treatment of the soln. by selective reverse osmosis (boric acid/nitrates) followed by ion exchange sepn. of nitrate impurities from the radioactive boric acid portion, which can be returned to the chemical pptn. The recovered nitrate soln. can be used again.
