PURPOSE:To permit obtaining of a read image signal with good S/N and reproducing of a radiograph having good diagnosing performance with high image quality by using a photoconductive sheet to condense stimulated luminous light, thereby efficiently detecting the stimulated luminous light. CONSTITUTION:The stimulated luminous light 27 of the quantity corresponding to the radiograph information accumulated and recorded in the point of a sheet 12 subjected to projection of excitation light 18 is released from said point. This stimulated luminous light 27 enters the inside of the photoconductive sheet 14 facing an accumulative fluorescent material sheet 12 from the surface 14C of the photoconductive sheet 14 and progresses to the end face side by repeating the total reflection within the sheet 14. This light passes a stimulated luminous light leading out part 14A and is emitted in the condensed from the end face 14a of the area extremely smaller than the area of the surface 14C. The stimulated luminous light 27 is, therefore, efficiently condensed by the photoconductive sheet 14 of an extremely simple shape and is detectable. The S/N of the read image signal S3 is thereby improved; in addition, the formation of the device to the smaller size and lighter weight is permitted.
