PURPOSE:To reduce the swinging or warping degree of a disk and to improve the quality of the reproduced signals by clamping a small diameter disk with a hub for a large diameter disk and then using a clamper to clamp the large diameter disk respectively. CONSTITUTION:A turntable 26 and a hub 24 are attached to a motor shaft 23 and a small diameter disk CD30 is loaded into a disk clamp device. Thus the CD30 is clamped by the hub 24. While a large diameter disk LD32 is loaded and clamped by a clamper 27 after a centering action carried out by the hub 26. A picking 28 is set at the lower surface side of the disk and therefore the outer diameter of the turntable 26 is increased. As a result, the clamping diameter can be selected in response to the disk sizes and the shift of the focal point of the pickup 28 is minimized. Then the quality of the reproduced signals can be improved.
