PURPOSE:To easily further properly start an engine, by providing an automatic/ manual selector switch and automatically starting the engine in accordance with each decision result of a neutral position of the engine and its warmed condition when this selector switch is switched to the automatic position. CONSTITUTION:When an automatic/manual selector switch 20 is set to, for instance, the automatic position, a device inputs each signal from a water temperature sensor 6 and a key switch 8 or the like respectively to a warm up condition decision means 12 while a signal from a neutral switch 21 to a neutral position decision means 22. And the device actuates an automatic starting means 13, when a transmission is placed in the neutral position of speed change further with an engine in an unwarmed condition, while a manual starting means 14 when the engine is placed in a warmed condition. Then the automatic starting means 13, after it conducts an electric current in a glow plug 4 through a driving means 15, starts a starter motor 5 after the predetermined time preset in a timer 17.
