PURPOSE:To realize smooth curve approximation, by setting a new curve fitting section by unifying extracted oblique line and curve strokes with one-valued functions and extracting the curve stroke with a multivalue function, and re-dividing it to the curve stroke with the one-valued function. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, the inflection point (data) of the contour of an original pattern (dot pattern) is extracted at an inflection point extracting part 10. Next, a horizontal and a vertical lines are extracted from a contour vector between the inflection points extracted at a stroke extracting part 11, and furthermore, the oblique line and the curve strokes with the one-valued functions are extracted. Next, the oblique line and the curve strokes with the one-valued functions are unified at an extracting part 12, then, the curve stroke with the multivalue function is extracted. And the curve stroke with the multivalue function is curve-divided at a section setting part 13, and the curve fitting section is set newly, then, it is divided into the curve strokes with the one-valued functions. Compression data is generated by applying straight line and curve approximation on a straight line (horizontal line, vertical line) and the oblique line and curve strokes found in such way at a data generating part 14.
