A device for the successive deposition of stack formations (S) on a pallet (P) consists of a transfer carriage (1) with a drivable conveyor belt base (2) and a stop frame (3) which is arranged thereabove with at least stack height and has front and rear formation stops (4, 5) which can be pivoted in and out. The transfer carriage (1) can be raised and lowered in a guide frame (6) and can be advanced over the pallet (P), whereas the conveying belt base (2) and the stop frame (3) can be moved back separately from one another. In such a device, a satisfactory deposition of stack formations (S) is achieved, even if the latter are made up of sheets with a smooth surface, if the transfer carriage (1) is provided, at the front transfer side of the conveyor belt base (2), with belt transfer lugs (7) which are movable between the formation stops (4) and are drivable at a higher speed than the conveyor belt base (2), and the stop frame (3) has sheet restrainers (8) which can be lowered beyond the pivoted-in formation stops (4, 5). <IMAGE>
