PURPOSE:To prevent the burnout of a solenoid coil, by detecting the presence of the continuity of dot recording steps and performing thinning dot recording when the dot recording steps continue. CONSTITUTION:A decoder 23 detects the recording order outputted from an operational control circuit 16 and applies the recording order detection signal not only to a monomultivibrator 24 but also to a thinning circuit 25. The monomultivibrator 24 adds a pulse for driving the solenoid 28 to a dot applying mechanism 11B to a solenoid driving circuit 27 through a gate 26. A thinning circuit 25 detects the presence of the continuity of the dot recording steps of the analogue signal applied through a control circuit 16 and controls the driving of an impact recording element so as to perform thinning dot recording at a constant step interval when the dot recording steps continue.
