PURPOSE:To prevent a rotary photocoupler from improperly contacting or generating a noise due to a sliding contact by composing the photocoupler by rotatably coupling a light emitting unit containing case having a light emitting element to a photodetector containing case having a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:A rotary photocoupler is composed by providing a light emitting unit containing case 11 having a light emitting element 14 for converting an electric input signal to output an optical signal, and a photodetector containing case 12 having a photodetector 17 for converting an optical signal into an electric signal, bringing the optical axes of the element 14 and the photodetector 17 into coincidence, and rotatably coupling the case 11 to the case 12 at the optical axes as a center. Accordingly, the element and the photodetector operate the communication of the electric signal by mechanical means in a conventional rotary unit instead of communicating the optical signal on the basis of the optical coupling. Thus, mechanical sliding contact is eliminated to prevent the photocoupler from improperly contacting or generating a noise. |
