The solenoid valve can proportionally control fluid flow on either pneumatic or hydraulic systems. The electromagnetic solenoid is directly connected to a dual diaphragm arrangement to provide a valving system applicable to modern automobiles where microprocessors responding to sensed input data, require valves to provide a predictable or desired output from a variable fluid source. The valve assembly includes an outer member or mounting bracket with a hollow cylindrical magnetic core pole piece with an electrical winding mounted around it. The valve is a dual diaphragm operator with diaphragms in parallel relationship to each other to define between them an atmospheric chamber. The travel distance between the armature and a non-magnetic seal seat is minimised by a biasing spring.
