PURPOSE:To produce the titled colored film colored to an optional color, by bringing an undried film, obtained from a p-oriented aromatic polyamide and containing an organic solvent into contact with a solution containing a dye or pigment and drying the resultant film. CONSTITUTION:(A) An optically isotropic dope containing a p-oriented aromatic polyamide having >=2.5, preferably >=3.5 inherent viscosity and a solvent consisting of concentrated sulfuric acid in >=96wt.% concentration and one or more of chlorosulfuric acid and fluorosulfuric acid is formed into a film on a support surface while keeping anisotropy and (B) the resultant dope is then converted into an isotropic state by moisture absorption and/or heating. (C) The obtained isotropic dope is subsequently coagulated and washed to replace the solvent with an organic solvent, etc., to prepare an undried film containing >=50wt.% organic solvent. (D) The obtained film is then brought into contact with a solution containing a dye or pigment and (E) dried while limiting shrinkage of the formed film at >=50 deg.C to produce the aimed colored film.
