PURPOSE:To make it possible to secure a smooth and rapid engagement and disengagement of a lockup clutch by fixing pressing members to engage with compression springs which connect a piston and a hub rotatable each other at the piston of the lockup clutch. CONSTITUTION:At a side of a hub 1 of a lockup clutch A, a piston 3 which can be connected to the input member of a torque converter is furnished. On the other hand, at the other side of the hub 1, a drive plate 6 to be fixed to the piston 3 is furnished, and the drive plate 6 and the hub 1 are connected rotatable each other through plural compression springs 9. At the piston 3, pressing members 10 are fixed between the piston 3 and the hub 1, arranged between neighboring compression springs 9 while contacting elastically to the compression springs 9. When the car speed exceeds a specific value and the piston 3 is contacted to a converter housing, the converter housing and the output shaft are connected through the clutch A, and the driving torque is delivered from the pressing members 10 to the hub 1 and to the output shaft.
