This top unloader for filling and emptying a silo has a frame (3) which circulates about the silo axis (39) and is supported on the material (2) contained in the silo by means of supporting rollers (5) or the like, and a cutting and distributing device (21) which extends essentially radially, circulates or rotates and is connected to the frame (3) with intermediate connection of a parallelogram linkage which can be swivelled with respect to the frame by means of a drive, for example a hydraulic cylinder (29) or the like. The top unloader also has a setting apparatus (24) which acts on the parallelogram linkage and is intended for setting the height of the cutting and distributing device. In order to provide a top unloader which can reliably be transferred by remote control from the filling to the emptying function, it is provided that a wall cutter (46) known per se is arranged on the outer end of the cutting and distributing device (21), that a first parallelogram linkage (8-9-12-13) is linked on the frame (3) and a second parallelogram linkage (12-13-17-18) connects the cutting and distributing device (21) to the first parallelogram linkage (8-9-12-13), that the first parallelogram linkage (8-9-12-13) can be set in different positions with respect to the frame (3) or with respect to the second parallelogram linkage (12-13-17-18) by means of the setting apparatus (24) and that the drive (29)... between the first (8-9-12-13) and the second (12-13-17-18) parallelogram linkage or between the first...
