A spring-loaded relief valve has an outside bevel seat 16, a valve disc 20 engaged with the seat, and an elongated stem 28 extending coaxially of the disc and slidably received in a sleeve 30 having an outer diameter no greater than the outer diameter of the seat and a length equal to at least twice its inner diameter, the stem having a recess for a spring-biased spindle 42. A bellows 60 is anchored in fluid-tight relation to a ring 63 threaded on a flange 64 of the valve disc and to a flange member 65 clamped beneath a flange 34 on a bonnet 32. The sleeve 30 has a flange 150 permitting a limited amount of movement both in a radial direction and in a universal tilting manner to compensate for any misalignment between the disc and the seat. A ring 26 is adjustably mounted on the seat and the lower spring washer 46 engages a rounded shoulder 44 on the valve spindle. In a modification, the bellows is omitted.</p> |
