Semicarbazone derivatives of the general formula (I> <IMAGE> some of which are known, in which X represents O, NH or NCH3, Y represents O or S and R represents amino, C1-6 alkoxy benzyloxy or a group of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 denotes hydrogen, halogen, nitro, hydroxyl, amino, C1-4 alkylamino or acetylamino and R2 denotes hydrogen, C1-8 alkoxy, nitro, halogen, sulphamoyl or 3-methyl-2-butenyloxy, are useful for combating ulcers.
