Substituted acetamide derivatives of the general formula (I) <IMAGE> in which A represents a 4-oxocyclohexylidene radical, a 2H-3,4-dihydropyran-2-ylidene radical or a tetrahydropyran-2-ylidene radical, R<1>, R<2> and R<3> independently of one another in each case represent hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, R<4> represents alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, haloalkyl, haloalkenyl, haloalkynyl, or in each case optionally substituted cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl, and R<5> represents hydrogen or alkyl, and their use for controlling pests. The novel substituted acetamide derivatives of the general formula (I) can be prepared by reacting suitable azomethines with suitable acyl chlorides.
