A handling machine, by means of which a multiplicity of automatically executable mechanical work steps can be carried out, has a plurality of mutually independently operating, but centrally controlled sliding elements G1, G2, G3 which are linked to belt drives T1, T2, T3 and to an endlessly rotating toothed belt 30 and can be moved and punctually positioned in the horizontal and vertical direction within temporal parameters and parameters conditioned by the transporting path in such a way that components or the like which are in stock are transported by means of suitable tools and can be processed at the place of use, e.g. at an assembly site. <IMAGE>
