PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic precursor for various perfumes, agricultural chemicals, medicines, etc., in high yield in one stage, by subjecting a cycloalkanone and an aldehyde to condensation reaction in the presence of a specific metallic complex. CONSTITUTION:A cycloalkanone expressed by formula I (n is 2-8; R<1> and R<2> are H or alkyl linked to C at an optional position on the cycloalkanone skeleton) and an aldehyde expressed by formula II (R<3> is aliphatic hydrocarbon residue, aromatic hydrocarbon residue, alicyclic hydrocarbon residue or heterocyclic group) as raw materials are subjected to cross aldol condensation in the presence of a metallic complex expressed by formula III (R<4> is cyclopentadienyl or alkyl-substituted cyclopentadienyl; M is group IVa metallic element: X<1> and X<2> are H, halogen, alkyl, etc.) (preferably the metallic element is Zr and suitably zirconocene, etc.) to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula IV (R<5> is H, alkyl, etc.). |
