PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a scintillator plate and to perform high- accuracy radiation detection by forming the core part of a fiber plate by using a material similar to that of the scintillator plate. CONSTITUTION:When radiation 2 such as X rays projected on a scintillator fiber plate 11 horizontally, the radiation 2 is converted by the scintillator core 21 of each scintillator fiber 11-1 into light, which is guided to the diode of a corresponding channel coupled directly with an output side while reflected repeatedly by the joined surface between the scintillator core 21 and a clad 22. The side opposite of the scintillator fiber 11-1 from the output side is coated with a light reflecting film 13 to prevent the light from being reflected to leak out. Thus, a scintillator is used for the core part of the fiber plate 11 and the radiation projected on the fiber plate 11 is converted directly into the light and transmitted.
