PURPOSE:To reduce recording power, enhance reliability and to facilitate providing a recording layer by producing an optical recording medium through providing a recording layer comprising In, Sb and Te in specified proportions on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A compound of In, Sb and Te is deposited on a substrate by simultaneous vapor deposition using respective vapor sources of the three elements to provide a recording layer, thereby producing an optical recording medium. The proportions of the elements in the recording layer, represented by the general formula InxSbyTez, must satisfy the relationships of 5<=x<=25, 25<=y<=45, 30<=z<=70 and x+y+z=100 (x, y and z represent atom.% of In, Sb and Te, respectively). The substrate maybe formed of a plastic, a glass, aluminum or the like. The optical recording medium thus obtained requires low optical power for recording, and is enhanced in thermal stability of recorded marks. |
