NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 is lower alkyl, lower alkoxycarbonylmethyl or p-nitrobenzyl; R2 and R3 are H or lower alkyl; R4 is CN, lower alkoxycarbonyl, p-nitrophenyl, formula II, etc.: R5 is CN, benzoyl or lower alkoxycarbonyl). EXAMPLE:1,3-Dicyano-7-methyl-2-(methylthio)indolizine. USE:An antiallergic agent. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula III (R6 is CN, lower alkoxycarbonyl, benzoyl, etc.) is reacted with a dehydrogenating agent such as lead tetraacetate or 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone in an inert solvent at about 0 deg.C to provide the compound expressed by formula I.
